Emergency Management involves planning for, responding to, recovering from, and mitigating (lessening the chance or effect of) disasters. This goes far beyond responding to a specific disaster event. In fact, it’s a never-ending cycle of planning, prevention, mitigation, warning, movement, shelter, emergency assistance, and recovery. The cycle requires extensive management and coordination to ensure that all Tribal departments, personnel, assets, and resources work together efficiently and effectively to protect the health, safety, and the welfare of Tribal Members.
Emergency Management is a coordinated response to an unusual emergency situation, which includes activating our Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Tactical Operations Centers (TOCs), which is how we coordinate the preparation and recovery efforts at all our Tribal Reservations and Communities.
